Eli Lilly, Stop Milking Cancer!
Reducing the risk of breast cancer requires understanding and eliminating its causes. Pinkwashers are companies that claim to care about breast cancer but make or sell products that are linked to the disease.
rBGH (recombinant bovine growth hormone) is one of those products, and Breast Cancer Action has launched a new campaign called “Think Before You Pink,” to eliminate those Pinkwashers.
Eli Lilly is a pharmaceutical company that claims to “care for our communities.” But according to Pharma Watchdogs, the company is responsible for the cancer and infertility causing DES (diethylstilbestrol), for the illegal marketing of the schizophrenia drug Zyprexa and for the illegal marketing of its osteoporosis drug Evista as a breast cancer “preventive.” And now it’s Eli Lilly & rBGH.
Think about this: Eli Lilly increases cancer risks with rBGH. Eli Lilly then sells cancer treatment drugs like Gemzar, and a drug, Evista, to reduce the risk of breast cancer in women at high risk of the disease. Eli Lilly’s cancer drugs made $2,683,000,000 for the company in 2008. Its potentially carcinogenic dairy hormone made millions of dollars in the same year.
Eli Lilly is milking cancer.
“rBGH has been linked to an increased risk of cancer, including breast cancer. While it is very difficult to provide absolute proof that something causes cancer, available scientific data on rBGH was sufficient to provoke bans on the drug in the European Union, Canada, and several other countries around the world. Mounting evidence about the link between rBGH and cancer has even led large corporations like Starbucks and Wal-Mart to discontinue using fluid milk stimulated with it. Ignoring this and trusting Eli Lilly’s insistence that rBGH is safe is a gamble we’re simply not willing to take.
As far as we know, there is only one entity that benefits from the use of rBGH – Eli Lilly. We are aware of Eli Lilly’s profit cycle, increasing our risk of cancer with rBGH, while at the same time selling drugs to treat and “prevent” the very cancer rBGH is helping to create. This is not corporate responsibility. This is not caring for our communities. This is greed that’s endangering our health.”

The biggest part of this economy relies on us being sick and dying!! Why did the lobbyists put over $5 million towards keeping the BPA’s from being banned in California??? Why are food dyes in our foods when Europe saw that it is too harmful to allow in their foods. Why is Phisoderm being sold to preteens and teens when the company killed so many babies with Phisohex? Same product just not as strong…instead of 6% it is 3 or 4%? Time Magazine did an article on it in 1970. My mother lost her 7 month old baby girl in the 60’s after being told to lather the baby up in Phisohex 3 times a day! Where is the protection? Amputees are still using the same exact product (via prescription) and they are blogging whether or not it is safe?? DUH?
