Where ya been, dude?

I know that’s what all three of you are wondering, so I thought I’d catch you up on the state of Natural Papa-ness (and give you some other ways to connect with me).

A couple of weeks ago, we moved in to our new house, a hundred year old adobe house on six and a half acres, and I’ve been up to my ears in projects ever since, some of which are below:

As there aren’t any closets in the house, I built shelving units for our rooms and for the pantry.

As the kitchen floor was plywood, I’ve been laying cement board and tile.

As the kitchen counter unit was piece of crap, I built and tiled a kitchen counter/sink unit.

As we have a huge fenced garden area, I’ve been preparing and planting some fall garden crops.

As we have 15 fruit trees in pots, I’ve been digging mulched basins and holes for them.

As the wood floors in most of the house are soft pine or fir, they all need to be re-floored, so that’s on the project list as well, as is tiling the bathroom floor and installing a different tub and sink unit.

Because we live in the high desert, water catchment is a high priority for us, and the house doesn’t currently have gutters – so that’s on the list as well.

Because we want to grow as much food as possible, as well as have a market garden and tree nursery, building a greenhouse and cold frames are high on the list for completion this fall and winter.

Whew. Sometimes, just thinking of all of the projects lined up so far makes me exhausted…
