They contain mercury and a REALLY small portion of the population know that they are dangerous waste and that we must not throw them in the garbage… and it’s not counting on how much you can get exposed to the mercury yourself if you happen to broke one!
Personally, I buy LED lights and in the rare cases that they won’t do I will greatly prefer incandescent bulbs to CFL’s. Anyway, half the year where I live, the heat of incandescent bulbs is welcomed!
I buy LED lights because they last longer and are less environmentally destructive than incandescent lamps and CFLs (as the user above mentions, they contain some mercury).
They are also brighter. I’m for anything that allows me to live my natural, green lifestyle bst 🙂
