As a father of four, all of whom have been breastfed (and one who still nurses), I’m in awe of my wife’s ability to feed and nurture our little ones. I also have a lot of empathy for her during those late night nursing sessions, and the long hours of breastfeeding, even when she’s tired or sick or just plain irritated at not being able to separate herself from baby long enough to can take care of herself. And there’s no contest that the most intense times are when baby’s not really hungry, but still wants to stay latched on to the breast, no matter what.
Of course, I only have a secondhand perspective on this, as I can’t nurse the baby myself, so I can only offer support and empathy for her experience, as well as my gratitude for her selfless service to our children. And while we’ve had many a laugh at the antics of our nursing babies (boobie gymnastics, anyone?), I don’t think I’ve laughed as hard about the perils of being a nursing mother as I did while watching what may very well be the best breastfeeding music video of all time.
From Mothers You’d Like To Friend (MYLF), here’s a hilarious parody of AC/DC’s You Shook Me All Night Long, for nursing mothers:
