I'm all for fresh fruit for snacks, but sometimes - especially when on the go - you need a prepackaged snack. The perfect all natural snack are Gudernoobs made by WooHoo Foods. They are only 30 calories each, come in 4 varieties and they have omega-3s!

I just made black bean brownies and they turned out delicious! I'm not a vegan or anything, but I am trying to incorporate more beans and lentils into my family's diet. Brownies are an excellent way to present black beans to kids in a more attractive way. Great success!

Some good ideas...might have to pass on a few of the extreme ones as I am cracking down on crap and my son is currently going through processed food detox. I dont want him to revolt on me and totally quit eating! :) Hey, one step at a time! Also, I would love to see how a family on a very tight budget can eat healthy, nutritious, hormone and antibiotic free, and organic food that tastes great too! A blog on that would be a huge, huge, gigantic hit!!! Any ideas of good reading to start on all of this?

1. love love nutritional yeast. It can and should be added to pretty much everything.
2. loving banana ice cream. I just keep frozen bananas in the freezer and when I want ice cream, through in blender or food processor, with a little nut milk and maybe even a tbsp of raw cacao powder.

Ever try banana bread with a bit of maple syrup to replace the regular syrup? It's excellent! My wife used to be a construction project manager and I made it for her work crew (I know, total role reversal :-) I wound up making it just about every friday for a year! I love this list. I've never tried yeast on popcorn, but the peanut butter one is totally up my alley. Thanks for the great ideas (might link to this at some point -- bookmark).

Peter and Tashina - thanks!

Maybe we need an app: Snacks that don't suck, for the iPhone.
I think it could be big, we just need Oprah's endorsement - ha!
