4 Tips to DIY a Higher Ranking for Your Home Daycare

You’re great with your own children, your friend’s children, and just about everyone else’s children. And you have this wonderful idea for your own daycare center, but you’re not sure how to go about getting your website to the front page on Google so people can see you.

Search engine optimization, or SEO for short, is a long game that isn’t all that easy to do. So if you’re looking to improve your rankings and grow your daycare business, then here are a few tips to help you out.

Figure out your current standing

Your first step to getting a higher ranking is figuring out where your site is currently. You will also want to find out what keywords and phrases your ranking for too. Unfortunately, there are many other larger sites that might outrank you for the keywords you want to use, especially big schools that offer daycare programs. There are thousands of schools all over the country, and 25% of them are private schools. So, if you want to rank for “private daycare” or “school for tots,” you might be out of luck. You can keep track of your phrases and keywords using an analytics tool, which is highly recommended.

Publish quality content

Even if you’re having trouble ranking for certain keywords, you’re better off focusing on your content. Google will place good quality, relevant content at a higher ranking, especially if people are visiting your pages. A tip for creating good content is to write about things that help people, and not so much about convincing them to use your services. For instance, you might write “5 ways to keep your child entertained during adult parties” or “How to change a diaper 101.” You’ll get way more views with content like that than with promotional pieces.

Understand Google

You don’t have to be a tech wiz or even all that experienced with computers in general to understand the basics of Google. It’s relatively simple: better content gets better rankings. If you see websites at the top of the page with the word “Ad” underneath the URL, then they paid for those spots. So don’t get discouraged if you’re literally not the first thing people see. Google also updates its algorithm an estimated 500 to 600 times each year, so you won’t be able to cheat it by creating bad links. Remember, the more people who view and share your site, the better.

Be mobile-friendly

Most people use their cellphones as their primary access point to the internet, so it’s imperative that you make your website mobile-friendly. Some platforms will help you optimize your page for you, while others will need your manual input. Find a platform to host your website that aligns with your skill set.

SEO isn’t easy, nor is it a quick fix. It takes time to build up to a high rank, sometimes even years. As long as your daycare website is engaging and people want to see what you’ve posted, whether blogs, videos, or pictures, then you’re in good shape. Your best chance at getting a high ranking is by creating a site that people want to see.
