I'm not sure about the whole social networks and Politics thing. Sure Twitter in Iran was a conduit to an audience that would normally have been left ignorant through state control. But 50+ year old politicians trying to appear in touch and "cool", come on !!

[...] Now, this is hardly Google’s first rodeo. They adopted the unofficial motto of “Don’t Be Evil” back in 2001 and have gotten a great deal of attention for their moral compass over the years. Mashable picked up on the trend this year, instituting the Summer of Social Good, a “large scale online charitable campaign to raise funds strictly online through the power of Social Media.” It’s not the only way social media is changing the world.
First off, Playing for Change (in #9) was an absolutely incredible project and one of my favorite albums now.... 100% agree.

The only thing I disagree with is ..."Obama administration has managed to set the historic benchmark for government transparency and accountability".

While I applaud the White House for moving into the 21st century of information. The first chance they had to deliver on their promise of major legislation being available to the public in advance, and several opportunities afterwards they intentionally failed to deliver. There is an air of accountability, but when it comes down to it, its all platitudes and empty promises.

Great post - some of these I was completely unaware of - like the app for the iphone, which I've now downloaded! I'm also really interested to see how the zumbox works over time - I'd love to get rid of snail mail completely - a totally paperless society, how cool would that be?
